Betty's Tearooms, Harrogate

You may, or may not, have heard of Betty's Tearooms. It's a family run business with six tearooms across Yorkshire.

Established in 1919 by a Swiss gentleman named Frederick Belmont, who wanted to combine his knowledge and talent with confectionery with the traditional Yorkshire culture. The tearooms have got an absolutely brilliant history and is something you should absolutely read about. I can not do it justice but they have, right here! It is definitely worth a read....especially if you're all about supporting British culture!

Anyway.......we just so happened to be Harrogate recently and thought it only appropriate to pay the flagship Tearooms a visit!

We popped by for a mid morning cup of tea....and a treat, of course! Which was all the more appreciated seeing as we had been battling through torrential downpour and Baltic gales.

There are two areas to the tearooms in Harrogate. We opted for the Montpelier Cafe Bar and chose our table.

I have a massive soft spot for Macaroons so they were an obvious choice to sit along side my pot of Ceylon Blue Sapphire tea. This was a black tea decorated with blue cornflower petals which were to represent the Sapphires from Sri Lanka.

We shared the four macaroons, there was no way I wasn't tasting all of them! We had a Raspberry (beautiful), Passion Fruit (delightful), Lemon (tasted like a little Lemon Meringue Pie! Perfect!).
The last macaroon was by far the best. Now, I am an advocate of any flavour 'roon, I am obsessed with them, but I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the final flavour: Chocolate and Salted Caramel.

BEST. MACAROON. EVER.
If you go through life doing only one good thing to yourself it should be eating this macaroon. Seriously. (Unless you have a nut allergy.......).

A Macaroon toast! To life, to being dry, to eating Macaroons!

I would definitely recommend paying a visit to a Betty's Tearoom if you are ever near one, you can find the locations here. If you fancy learning how to bake like a Betty's pro I found on their website that they have a cookery school.

Now, I'm going to go and stop drooling over that macaroon.......
